Lloyd D. Smith Foundation Focused on 2021

Updated: Feb 28, 2021

We have all experienced unprecedented times in 2020 and entering 2021—a world-wide pandemic and continued racial inequalities in our country. It has been a lot and a cause for a pause in many ways.

The Lloyd D. Smith Foundation has been committed to supporting deserving students who reside in Ward 7 of Washington, DC with scholarships since our inception in 2004. Justice for our communities, specifically Ward 7, is what Lloyd D. Smith stood for, and the scholarships we have provided for the last 17 years in his honor embodies our commitment to his legacy and the Ward 7 community.

We are proud that we have been able to support college students by being focused and prudent with early donations to our Foundation. After 17 years, and very little fund raising, our scholarship funds are diminishing. As a result, we have decided to take a pause and will not be accepting new scholarship applicants for 2021.

Our focus in 2021 will be to strategize innovative ways to support our future scholarship funds. We also want to continue support for our current scholarship recipients, who are all outstanding students.

To support our current recipients, we have set a goal to raise $10,000, which will allow us to reward current scholarship recipients with needed funding to continue their education. If you would like to support these students through the Lloyd D. Smith Foundation scholarship program, please click here, or go to our Contact/Donate page. Your donation is fully tax deductible.

Thank you and remain safe and healthy.
